  • What types of funds does Benoni Work with?

    Benoni most typically works with hedge funds. Benoni also has raised private equity and venture capital.

  • What is the minimum target fundraise?

    At least $250-$500 million. Preferably $500 million to $1+ billion.

  • Are those investors both U.S. and non-U.S.?

    Yes

  • How much do the investors allocate per hedge fund?

    Typically, $10-$100+ million per single-strategy manager, and often $25-$250+ million per multi-strategy manager or platform.

  • What is the best way to learn more about Benoni?

  • For what types of hedge funds and strategies will Benoni do fundraising and consulting?

    All mainstream strategies, including: activist, commodities/CTA/currencies, convert arb, credit, event-driven, long/short equity, multi-strategy, quant/systematic, vol arb, etc.

  • With what types of investors does Benoni work and have relationships?

    All investors that allocate substantially to hedge funds, including: endowments, family offices (SFO’s and MFO’s) foundations, fund of funds, insurance companies, pensions (private and public) and RIA’s, as well as E/F/P investment consultants.

  • What are the investors’ total investable capital?

    Several trillion dollars.

  • In addition to fundraising, does Benoni also work with funds on other aspects of their growth and operations?

    Yes. Although fundraising is Benoni’s forte and primary focus, it also assists and consults to funds with regard to other aspects of their operations, including collateral/marketing materials, compliance/legal, risk, reporting, service provider selection/upgrading, and team building. In addition, Benoni partners with, has longstanding high-level relationships with, and can provide funds with direct access to, all of the leading service providers in the hedge fund industry (e.g., admin, audit, compliance, legal, prime brokerage, recruiters, etc.).

  • Where did the name “Benoni Capital” come from?

    For many years, our founder, Evan Katz, played competitive tournament chess. And Evan also has held numerous leadership positions in the chess community, including being a Contributing Editor of Chess Life, the official magazine of the United States Chess Federation, and one of the world’s most prominent and globally read chess periodicals. In chess, the “Benoni Defense” is a popular opening, and is the opening that former World Chess Champion Bobby Fischer played when he defeated his Russian rival, Boris Spassky, for the very first time.
